CURE is consulting with the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA) in their desire to rebuild an orthopedic training program for Haitian Surgeons. This is in conjunction with SHOT (Surgeons d’ Haiti Orthopedic and Trauma) and various Hospitals. CURE wants to insure Orthopedic services in Haiti, by Haitian Orthopedic Surgeons and the partnership of SHOT, AAOS, POSNA and several hospitals will allow this to happen.
CURE has proposed an Orthopedic fellowship program in conjunction with their programs which will take one Haitian Orthopedic Surgeon every six months. The Fellowship will be for a two year period, the second year on staff at a Haitian Orthopedic Hospital, and will include Salary for the Surgeon and all expenses for the two year program. Initially the base for the Fellowship is the CURE orthopedic Hospital in Santo Domingo but will relocate to Haiti within 3 years when adequate staffing and facilities exist |
